John Cage thought up the idea of “Musicircus”, an event that allows hundreds of musicians to play together but separately – creating beautiful, creative chaos. In November, 2010 Musicircus was created and celebrated in Massey University’s ‘Great Hall’ in Wellington, New Zealand.
In a team of 20 people, experiencing the force & chaos of creativity and lack of hierachy first-hand, we collectively created playful animations, illustrations, posters, marketing strategies, the logo, and typeface for the Wellington (NZ) Musicircus in 2010 as well as organised the event itself.
These posters and illustrations were my contribution to the visual development and used for promotional material. The illustrations were created by splattering ink on paper, generating random shapes and patterns, connecting to the theme of chaos.
